BEYOND CARAVAGGIO - AN ACADEMIC CONFERENCE ABOUT CARAVAGGIO AND HIS LEGACY

National Gallery, London, 17-18 November 2016
Moretti Fine Art is the proud supporter of a two-day international conference about Caravaggio and his legacy at The National Gallery.

Michelangelo Merisi da Caravaggio is regarded as one of the most radical figures in art. His strikingly original paintings had a lasting impact on European art, both during his lifetime and in the decades immediately following his death.

To coincide with the National Gallery exhibition Beyond Caravaggio, this academic conference explores the work of Caravaggio and his followers. International experts will share their research on a range of subjects, including Caravaggio’s Italian, French, and Northern European followers; artistic life in 17th-century Rome; as well as technical aspects concerning 3D imaging and a recent conservation treatment of a painting by Caravaggio. Keynote lectures will be given by Professor Richard Spear and Dr Keith Christiansen.
