A Summer in Monaco. From Impressionism to Modern Art

Monaco, 17 July - 1 September 2017

Moretti Fine Art is delighted to collaborate with Dickinson to present A Summer in Monaco: From Impressionism to Modern Art at the newly-opened Moretti Gallery Monaco. The exhibition will be on view from July 17th through September 1st in Monte Carlo, and Dickinson will showcase examples by some of the most well-known names in Impressionist and Modern art.

Among the Impressionist landscapes on display in the first room will be a sunny 1883 seascape taken near Monte Carlo by Monet, as well as views by fellow plein-air painters Boudin, Pissarro and Sisley. The following room features figurative works by Cézanne, Munch and Renoir, the latter represented by two paintings and a large-scale pastel. Moving into the third room, past an elegant drawing of a woman by Matisse, Dickinson will present a group of works by a long-time resident of the Côte d’Azur: Pablo Picasso. Jeune Garçon nu à Cheval, an iconic and extremely rare Rose Period painting executed in 1906, is one of only two studies in oil for Picasso’s unrealised group composition L’Abreuvoir (The Watering Place), and the only one remaining in private hands. This painting is complemented by a selection of works on paper, including the artist’s Trois baigneuses (Les trois Grâces), a classical drawing made in 1923 at Cap d’Antibes. Picasso’s fellow modernists and members of the Cubist movement, including Braque and Gris, are represented in the entrance hallway.
